Community Is The New Institution

2025 ended up as being a year of strengthening and consolidation of large-scale profiteering institutions in the global theatre. Wars were fought to gain control over natural resources with landed communities, large populations killed as the world watched helplessly with the dismantling of peace making and healing oriented global institutions, and technological oligarchs used the mediums of communication to pontify on everything from family values to philosophy. In India, we have had the re-definition of who is a citizen, regulated and dictated by the limitations of those who design centralized software. As we end the year, we find the discourse move towards the re-definition of welfare of the poor utilizing ‘development’ paradigm which our leaders proudly proclaim to be preparing in consultation with Artificial Intelligence more than human engagement.   

We are convinced more than ever that the thousands of smaller focussed planet healing communities of the world need to become the future of all Institutions – they need to be more accountable than the governments, more sensitive than the technocrats, more local than the market forces, and far more human than what our transactions have come to mean today.

As we completed an eventful 2025 and the beginning of 2026, at Raattai, we decided to produce series of regular digital publications that are easy to read and can be shared widely.
